Touring Yellowstone.

Monday morning we said our last goodbyes to Aunt Eloise before hitting the road and making our way to Yellowstone.  We enjoyed our visit and will miss her very much.

Our trip was uneventful and we made it to Yellowstone around 5:00 p.m.  When we reached the North Gate we noticed the Mammoth campground was full so we turned around and stayed in the National Forest Service Canyon Campground just across from the Yellowstone River.
 Our site Monday night.

Of course we took a ride around before dark to see if there were any wildlife about.
We saw this guy sitting on the square at Mammoth.  Ain't he pretty.

The ranger at the gate told us to be at the Mammoth Campground between 9:00 and 10:00 the next morning and we would probably be able to get a site.  We got there around 9:15 and were second in line.  Lucky for us they had a site big enough to accommodate us.  Yeah!!!

Our site in Mammoth Campground.

Tuesday we were up and on the road to tour a portion of the park.  This is our third time here but the scenery and wildlife never get old.   There is always something interesting to see.   As usual the buffalo were blocking the roadways and slowing traffic down.  Lots of babies this time.

On our way back to the campground we came across this couple (Randall and Stacy) in a car who were clearly experiencing mechanical difficulties. They were limping slowly along trying to make it to the next pull off.  John drove ahead to the pull off and stopped to wait and see if they needed help.  After securing the tow strap we were off to Mammoth.

Here we are all hooked up and headed down the road.

They left their car in Mammoth and John drove them back to West Yellowstone where their motorhome was parked.  This morning they would drive the motorhome to Mammoth and tow the car.  Randall and Stacy are RV'ers from Nevada.  You never know who you will meet on the road.

Laugh everyday.  Happy trails.  Stay safe.

  2. Leave it to you guys to carry a tow strap with you in the car! I bet those folks were very relieved.
